With Tom’s drive, passion and background its no wonder the new brand/company has really hit the ground running. Tom was brought up in the farming industry on the family farm which shows Pedigree Simmentals at agricultural shows, whilst also working at the family wholesale business & slaughterhouse. After Tom left school he went to work and train as a retail butcher in the Ribble Valley at George Alpes Butchers before leaving at the age of 20 to go work in the family business. Having worked for his Father for 14 years Tom decided to challenge his self and left to pursue the retail path, with his keenness to further produce and utilize the whole carcass he took over Huntley’s Country Stores butchery as manager. Having the insight into the industry it was no surprise that the department grew from strength to strength with a team of 8 butchers and adding a wholesale side which supplied restaurants around the Ribble Valley. While at Huntleys, Tom was also chosen to represent his country in New Zealand for the World Butchers Challenge (Team GB) which now having retained his place over the last three years captain’s the team. Tom who is also a vocational assessor has his sights set on bringing the future generations into the industry and with his passion for the butchery trade really does excel its self with him giving butchery demo’s nationwide and lectures at farming meetings. This is only the beginning of what will be an exciting future for Tom Wood Artisan Butchers Ltd.
